He is also a registered professional engineer, a member of the Tau Beta Pi Honorary Engineering Society and an associate fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics. In 1991 and 1993-95 he served as chairman of the Colorado Rhodes Scholarship Selection Committee. He currently serves as Chairman, Board of Directors, Christian Leadership Alliance of the U.S, Board member of the Lausanne Movement and the Board of Greater Europe Mission. He served as Chairman of the Rhoads Scholar Selection committee of Colorado for 4 years. 

Jerry and his wife, Mary, have written twelve books on practical topics such as work, ethics, and parenting adult children. Jerry and his wife, Mary, have co-authored several books: The Christian in Mid-Life (1980, NavPress), Friends and Friendship (1982, NavPress), On The Job: Survival or Satisfaction (1988, NavPress) and When Your Kids Aren't Kids Anymore (1989, NavPress). Mary White has also published Growing Together: Building Your Family's Spiritual Life (1981, NavPress) and Harsh Grief, Gentle Hope (1995, NavPress). Dr. White has authored Honesty, Morality and Conscience (1996, NavPress), Making the Grade: A Guide to Excellence in College (1980, NavPress), The Church and the Parachurch: An Uneasy Marriage (1983, Multnomah Press), The Power of Commitment (1985, NavPress), and Choosing Plan A in a Plan B World: Living Out the Lordship of Christ (1987, NavPress), Dangers Men Face (1997, NavPress),  Making Peace with Reality: Ordering Your Life In A Chaotic World (2002), The Joseph Road (2009, NavPress).

In addition to his work with The Navigators, Dr. White is a nationally competitive handball player, a licensed commercial pilot, and an active member of his local church, having served on the church board. He is married to the former Mary Ann Knutson. They have four children, 11 grandchildren, and live in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
