Gathering With Purpose
The Community Prayer Breakfast of Amarillo, Texas (CPB) is an annual event designed to mobilize prayer and spiritual support in a “non-church” setting for governmental and community leadership serving this community on a local, state, and national basis and to acknowledge the community’s dependence on God for its well-being.
Our Story
Our Tradition
More than 30 years ago, a group of business people had a vision of bringing the community together in a secular setting to honor God and ask for His divine intercession for the community, state, nation and world.
Without regard for denomination or politics, they simply wanted to bring people together to pray and give thanks for the many blessings He has bestowed on us and ask for His guidance and mercy in the future.
Each year, a group of dedicated, God-directed volunteers work together to plan the breakfast, line up the speaker and coordinate the participants, all with the generous donation of our sponsors.
The program includes inspirational music performed by local and area musicians and choirs; multimedia presentations; expressions of welcome and greeting; personal statements of faith; reading of Scriptures; a main address by a recognized speaker; and supportive prayer involving those present at each table setting who choose to participate.
Doors at the Amarillo Civic Center North Exhibit Hall open at 6 a.m. and breakfast is served at 6:30. The program begins a little before 7 a.m., and we try to get everyone out by 8 a.m.
